Party Poker Changes Their Rake

Party Poker has one of the largest followings in terms of all online poker sites today.  Party was actually one of the first online poker sites that took advantage of the poker boom in the United States.  When it comes to online poker rake, there are two main ways that the rake is decided.  Party Poker used the “Dealt” method up until this point, but will be changing to the “Weighted’ method.  This change will affect the way that players are rewarded with the Party Poker Points that are given out.

Currently, players are given 2 Party Points for every $1 that they earn in rake, so under the “Dealt” method all players who are dealt into the hand are considered to have put in the same amount of rake into the pot.  But in this “Weighted” method, players who put more money into the pot throughout the hand will earn credit for the amount of rake that they put in.  The idea behind this new calculation is to reward the players who contribute more to the site in terms of putting more into the pot, by giving them more Party Points which can be traded in for different prizes and cash.  The players who go all the way through the hand will split up the total rake in the pot, while the players who folded earlier on will not be awarded any Party Points.

The site will also be making a few other small changes such as dropping the min stakes for max rake collection from the $15/$30 limits to the $3/$6 limits.  Each limit that is below the $3/$6 level will keep their rake structure the same as it was in the past.  This new way of doing the rake for Party Poker should be a very interesting change and will definitely reward the looser, more aggressive players on the site.  If you are an aggressive player, this could add many Party Points into your account just from single sessions of playing on the site.
