Phil Galfond Takes a Huge Online Poker Win Against Viktor “Isildur1″ Blom
While the world of online poker hasn’t been nearly as busy as it was in the past, PokerStars is still drawing quite a bit of high stakes action. Well known poker pro Phil Galfond, took on the big time online player Viktor “Isildur1″ Blom over this past weekend, and it didn’t go so well for the online pro Isildur1. Blom played over 7,300 hands over the weekend, and it started out well as he was up over $500k right off the bat; but then he decided to give it a run against Galfond heads-up, at $100/$200 Pot Limit Omaha.
Blom took one of the sickest turns in recent memory as he went from the $500k that he was up, and went down $134k, giving him a net of -$634k. Galfond ended up taking home $452k in the end, and has been on fire since getting back into the online poker world after Black Friday. Galfond moved to Canada to continue his online career, and has won over $1 million in that time frame. Galfond is currently one of the hottest players online, and Blom was unfortunate when he ran into the steamroller that was Phil Galfond. These two have battled before, and Galfond came out on the winning side that time as well.
As the night came to an end, Blom and Galfond decided to go at it again, this time playing at the $25/$50 Pot Limit Omaha heads-up tables. It will be interesting to see if Blom is able to turn it around and pull back a profit against the incredibly hot Phil Galfond.
